Athletic Restrictions and Exclusions

While Horizon Christian High School does try to provide for equal opportunity for boys and girls in interscholastic activities, it is the policy of our school that girls will not be allowed to participate with boys in football.  While Horizon Christian High School does not allow for this participation, it is possible that an opponent may have a different eligibility criterion.  If faced with competing against a female opponent in wrestling, our athletes are to treat her the same as they would any other opponent.  In the event that the individual male athlete from Horizon Christian has personal convictions contrary to facing a female opponent, every attempt will be made to avoid a violation of his convictions (i.e., change positions). However, in a tournament this may not be possible. In those cases, the Horizon Christian athlete may choose whether to compete or not without threat to future assignments.

Injuries

If a student receives a head, neck or back injury, the coach must notify the parent or the other party listed on the student’s Emergency Card. For any other injury, the coach and/or trainer will check the student thoroughly.  If immediate medical care is suggested, the parent or other party will be notified.

If an athlete is injured, the athlete will be expected to attend practices and to be with the team during contests both at home and away. There is a great deal individuals can learn about the sport and a number of ways they can assist teammates during the period of rehabilitation following an injury.  Most of all, whether injured or not, the individual remains a member of the team.
