Horizon Christian High School launched their International Program in January 2010. Our program began with one German student and one Taiwanese student placed directly in our mainstream classes. Currently we are seeking International students for the 2010-2011 school year.
Foreign student applicants are accepted based on TOEFL or SLEP scores, grades, recommendations, country of origin and the number of host families available in the program. Applicant's English skills should be equivalent to a TOEFL ibT (internet based TOEFL) score of 69 or higher, or a SLEP score higher than the 80th percentile, to assure success at our school. Middle school students may be eligible for acceptance as an immersion experience student. If you have a high interest in our school but are unsure of your English level, please contact us for further details about admissions.
The program currently does not offer ESL classes. All international students will take a study hall class providing limited assistance in academics. Students may wish to hire a private tutor to help support further academic needs.
We have Christian families, most with students at the school, who warmly welcome International students into their homes. Host parents are background checked and reference checked to ensure safety and excellence. Host family homes are also visited for approval.
