Lanette Smith- Art teacher K-12 At HCS all students receive instruction at their grade level in: Art History, Technique, Personal Skill Development.
All instruction is done from a Christian world view, teaching the students that they are creative because they are made in the image of God.
All students learn the elements (space, shape, color, line, value, form texture) and principles (emphasis, pattern, movement, unity, balance, contrast, rhythm) of design as well as use perspective, subject matter, composition and style in both viewing and making art.
This year the Art class will be hosting a school-wide art show in May 2010 to allow students to share this year's theme with the broader community: "My life as a story". Lanette's hope is that, in addition to learning about the artists and styles, they will believe that their life has intentional design, purpose and beauty.
